2017 marked the beginning of a campaign to evolve the Ministry into an organization that internalized and embraced Quality Management. Through a partnership with the Belize Bureau of Standards, the Ministry began a two-year process to ready itself for Certification under the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) 9001:2015 Standard on Quality Management. Since then, the Ministry, its staff, its facilities have undertaken a physical and operational transformation that led to the achievement of certification in July 2019. This made the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation the first Government Ministry to achieve this certification.

The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation strives to build upon the following four guiding principles:
